Ivan Marks Memorial Match 2016

Sun 28 August 16

The 2016 Ivan Marks memorial was once again fished on the Ferry Meadows complex., This annual event organised by Match Catch Leicester and Ringer Baits saw 77 of the 80 anglers who had booked in draw for their pegs on Gunwade and Overton. With a very impressive field and near perfect conditions, the potential for good sport from the venues abundance of skimmer and big bream was very high. So with ten sections spread over the two lakes and with a top six payout, it was all to fish for on this bream angling Mecca.

On the day, the anglers who got amongst the bigger bream found natural baits including dead maggots, caster and worm to be the most productive methods, With he wind changing from a south/westerly to a north/westerly half way through the match, This got the bream moving around and gave many anglers the opportunity to catch well in the last two hours, which in turn, put anglers who were struggling to find the better stamp of bream in the running for section and overall positions, making for a very close finsish, with the top six anglers only seperated by small margins.
