Craig Kent Memorial 2017 Match report

28 anglers attended the 10 annual , held at the superb Kingsland Reservoir, near Coates in Cambridgeshire. With anglers of all abilities taking part, the match is run as a drawn pairs match to make the event as fare as possible. At the draw each of the anglers fishing received a bag of goodies, that were kindly donated by Phil Ringer from Northamptonshire based Ringer Baits.

The match started at 12.00 in near perfect conditions, with only the odd light shower interrupting broken sunshine, making this one of the most competitive matches to date, with all but a few managing over 50lbs

Consistently producing the goods to take top individual spot was local rod Ian Darrington. He fished paste in the margins to steadily catch all day to land 159lbs 12ozs, making this the third year in a row that Ian has taken the individual crown. Second individual see Kings Ripton based Dave Rawlings also catch close in to land an impressive 137lbs on the nose, with March based Tony Mcgregor from March landing 132lbs 4ozs

The biggest fish landed on the day went to Lincolnshire based Dave Wills. This was his first visit tot the venue and he got introduced to the monsters that this fine venue can produce, with an impressive 15lbs lump.

1st – Ian Darrington – 159lbs 12ozs & Tony McGregor – 132lbs 02ozs

2nd – - Dave Wills 103lbs 12ozs & Richard Humphreys – 74lbs 00ozs

3rd – Dave Rawlings – 137lbs 00ozs & Steve Marsh – 55lbs 00ozs

Between the match and raffle the event raised a very tidy £580, which will be presented the the East Anglia Air Ambulance, at the request of Craig’s family.
