Part 1 – First Impressions

Over the past few years, the UKMA team have had the opportunity to test numerous products from the Tri-Cast range with excellent results. So when they asked us to put their new flagship pole, the Excellence Pro through it’s paces, we obviously jumped at the chance. So with no further ado, here’s part 1 of our long term comprehensive review and field test.

Tri-Cast Excellence Pro 16.1m

Vital Statistics

The Excellence Pro pole is the latest addition to the Tri-Cast pole range. It is available in three length options, these are 14.4m, 16.1m (featured) and finally the 17.8m option. The main pole sections incorperates the very impressive ATS (Aerospace Technology System) which is proven carbon production method that offers exceptional strength and rigidity, whilt keeping the overall weight of the pole to an absolute minimum.

Aerospace Technology System

All of the joints incorporperate a special conical wraps. This give the pole extra rigidity and cuts out most of the wear usually associated with long term usage. The outer wall finish is silky smooth, offering vertually zero resistance whilst shipping in and out, making this proccess one of the easiest to ship out with wet hands the UKMA team have reviewed.

To our knowledge, Tri-Cast have introduced 3 fully reversible mini power butts to aid you when fishing shorter and slapping etc. These eliminates the need for you to have to sit or rest your elbows on the delicate pole sections. These Power Mini Butts are all supplied with the pole as standard and fit the 4 – 5, 6 – 7, and 8 – 9 sections (A great addition to the standard spares package).

Top Kits Package

Each length option in the EXcellence Pole Range comes supplied with a comprehensive top kit and cupping kit bundle that is on a par with man other top of the range poles. Tou get as standard 1 x Match Top 4 Kit, 4 x Match Top 3 Kits (one in the pole, 3 x Big Bore Power Top 2 Kits and 1 x Interex Short Number 3 Section (the No.3 section on Tri-Cast poles is the equivelent to the number 4 on the majority of other brands poles). and finally you also get a Cupping Kit With Two Tops.

Key Feature – All top kits are exceptionally lightweight and feature a reinforced carbon wrap on the No.2 section, which has been added to offer a place to incorperate a side pullers insert or wheel.

Holdall, Tubes & Extras.

To complete the Excellence Pro 16.1m pole package, you get a massive Tri-Cast Super Deluxe Pole Holdall Complete With All Tubes you’ll need to keep your pole and top kits in prestine condition whilst in transit. Each tube is clearly labeled with the contents listed, to make component identification that little bit easier.

To finish of this comprehensive bundle off, you also get supplied as standard a 1 x Anglers Cap and 1 x Anglers Towel with the Tri-Cast branding, plus a large and small set of black pole cups. All of this can be found in the small zipped pouch on the internal wall of the front compartment of the Pole Holdall.

First Impressions

Afterhaving taking the Excellence Pro 16.1m pole out on the bank for it’s first session, all we can say is “WOW!!”. Everything about this pole absolutely oozes class. The minimal graphics give this pole a distinctive minimal appearance, the finish is a smooth as any we have experienced, and the comprehensive package covers the perfect spec to cater to all the demands of modern day commercial fishery work.
