Rig and hooklength material selection are usually based on personal choice based on trial and error or by seeking the opinions of anglers in the know. Not all of us can try every make of hooklength material as this could work out to be very expensive by the time you find the one that is right for your personal angling. To make your search just that little bit easier if you are in the market for something different, the UKMA team take a close look at the new for 2015 Supplex from Oxfordshire based Drennan.
This latest hi-tech rig line offering from Drenna is made from 100% fluorocarbon, which makes it exceptionally abrasion resistant, it also sinks well and doesn’t degrade in sunlight like standard mono can. another key feature of the Supplex is that it has a very similar refractive index to water, which makes it virtually invisible in clear water. As many of you may already know, Fluorocarbon is also less prone to spinning or twisting up on the retrieve compared to standard mono, making it a great choice for situations when casting out and reeling in continuously is essential.
The Supplex Fluorocarbon offers you the angler a rig line that is supple, abrasion resistant, consistent and precise diameters near on invisible in water and most importantly superb knotting strength. This excellent fluorocarbon material is ideal for all hooklengths including waggler, feeder and all pole rig building. There are 12 diameters and breaking strains available in the range, these are 0.075mm (0.9lb), 0.095mm (1.3lb), 0.105mm (1.7lb), 0.12mm (2.0lb), 0.13mm (2.6lb) 0.15mm (3.3lb), 0.17mm (4.4lb), 0.19mm (5.0lb), 0.20mm (5.6lb), 0.22mm (6.4lb), 0.25mm (8.0lb) & 0.30mm (10.0lb).
