Looking the part on the bank is as important to many anglers as the equipment they use. We all buy garments to fish in and in many cases, after a few washes or after sitting out in the sun, many lose there shape and if dark in colour, many have an uncanny habit of fading in the sun. So when Essex based Guru sent the UKMA team a sample of their new polo shirt, we decided to put it through it;s paces and only review the product after it had been used and abuse over several sessions, here’s how it performed.
These stylish polo shirts feature a subtle contrasting Guru orange ribbed collar and cuff, seamless placket and underarm eyelets, and vent cuts on the sides of the bottom hem. The shirts trimm-fit, gives these stylish polo shirts a designer look. The Dry-Kore Polo is constructed from a lightweight pique material, that offers great moisture wicking control.
What is “Moisture Wicking”
Moisture wicking fabric is a kind of fabric that is commonly used in workout clothing and sportswear because the material is designed to pull moisture away from the skin. As such, the fabric draws sweat and perspiration off of the skin and out to the exterior of the fabric. It is much easier for the moisture to evaporate on the surface of the fabric than when it is trapped between the garment and the skin.
To ensue these polo shirts were up to the task, the UKMA team have warn it several times in mainly hot conditions to establish how comfortable they were to fish in. We found that the material used in manufacturing enabled moisture to pass through when it got really hot, meaning you didn’t have to spend up to six hours on the bank on a hot day, feeling like you were wearing a wet sponge, as you would whilst wearing a standard cotton polo.
One of the features found on the Guru Polo Shirt that we found to be very practical, were the two under-arm eyelets, just below the arm pits. These enable air to pass in and out of the shirt, which intern keeps the internal moisture retention to a minimum, making your session that much more comfortable.
Top Tip – to ensure the Guru Polo Shirt stay in pristine condition, always turn it inside out before washing. This keeps the outer looking in tip top condition, even after being washed numerous time.
After using and abusing the Guru Polo Shirt for over 10 weeks, you’ll be please to know that they are some of the best quality polo shirts that the UKMA team have reviewed or used in many years. As with all Guru products, it’s the attention to detail that makes all the difference and in the opinion of the UKMA team, they have got it spot on!
Lets face it, we’ve all spent £50 plus on a top branded sports polo, only to get a few wears out of them before they toggle or fade, so paying £24.99 for a top quality polo shirt for fishing, that will last you ages, has got to be good value for money.
