Commercial silvers with Nigel Fawkes

With carp being the main target species on most of the countries top commercial fisheries, on hard days when many anglers are struggling for a bite. Most of us will persevere with pellets and corn and continue sitting like a heron, waiting for a bite that in reality will never come. However, Cambridgeshire based matchman and UKMA team member Nigel Fawkes opts for a totally different approach. Rather than risking a blank in extreme conditions to target the enormous stocks of silver that many commercial fisheries hold.

With his many years experience fishing natural venues in search of silver fish, Nigel has adapted these tactics to great advantage. Using old school methods that you would usually associate with winter drains and canals, Nigel has added another string to his bow, producing good section weights and framing with silvers in winter, whilst others around him struggle for a single bite.To get an insight on his tactics and his mind set whilst actually fishing,

The UKMA team and Gills Productions headed to the superb Rookery Waters in Cambridgeshire to put his tactics to the test for the cameras. In temperatures that never broke zero all day, the conditions were definitely against him, o if you want to find out how he got on, simply click on the video below!
